Wood County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash in Montgomery Township

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of 38-year-old Adam M. McGiffin of Wayne early Monday morning, November 24, at approximately 5:22 a.m. The incident occurred at the intersection of Caskie Road and Holcomb Road in Montgomery Township, where first responders discovered the heavily damaged vehicle and its lone occupant.

According to preliminary findings, the crash involved a 2021 Dodge Ram operated by McGiffin. Investigators determined that the pickup truck was traveling southbound on Caskie Road as it approached the stop sign at Holcomb Road. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle failed to stop, continuing through the intersection before striking a guard rail and a ditch embankment head-on.

Medical personnel pronounced McGiffin deceased at the scene. Authorities confirmed that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, which may have contributed to the fatal outcome.

Multiple agencies responded to assist, including the Pemberville Fire Department and EMS, Wayne Fire Department, Southeast 150 EMS, and Frank’s Towing.

At this time, alcohol is not suspected, and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
