Gerard Anthony Harvell Found Dead Seven Months After Disappearance; Two Men Charged

HENRICO COUNTY, Va.— More than seven months after his disappearance, 48-year-old Gerard Anthony Harvell of Henrico County has been found dead in Suffolk, and two men — 41-year-old Levar Antonio Bradsaw, Jr. of Franklin and 47-year-old William Andre Lawrence of Suffolk — are now facing first-degree murder charges in connection with his death.

Harvell was first reported missing on Thursday, May 8, when the Henrico County Police Division issued a missing adult alert. Authorities said he had last been heard from at approximately 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, prompting concern from loved ones and investigators who began piecing together his final known movements.

It wasn’t until Tuesday, Dec. 2, that Henrico Police confirmed Harvell had been found deceased in Suffolk, bringing an emotional end to the months-long search.

    A Complex, Multijurisdictional Investigation

According to the Suffolk Police Department, Harvell disappeared after traveling to Suffolk in April. As days turned into weeks without any signs of him, the Henrico Police Department requested Suffolk’s assistance in May, initiating a large-scale investigation that would span multiple jurisdictions, agencies, and states.

Suffolk Police described the case as exceptionally complex, involving:

    • detailed data analysis
    • multiple search warrants
    • extensive evidence recovery
    • numerous interviews
    • intensive forensic examinations

After months of work, investigators concluded that Gerard Anthony Harvell was killed on or about April 29, 2025, in the 6900 block of Brentwood Road in Suffolk.

    Charges Filed Against Two Suspects

On Tuesday, police announced that Levar Antonio Bradsaw, Jr., 41, and William Andre Lawrence, 47, had been charged with first-degree murder and other related offenses. Both men are currently in custody, and additional investigative findings may result in further legal action.

Suffolk Chief of Police James “Danny” Buie commended the unwavering efforts of the investigative team.

“I could not be more proud of the work our investigators did for this victim and his family,” Chief Buie said. “This was a complex investigation, and these indictments are a testament to the skill and dedication of the detectives, forensic technicians, and supervisors who were involved in this case.”

An Effort That Spanned State Lines

The investigation into Harvell’s disappearance and death involved a remarkable number of agencies, all contributing expertise and resources. Those agencies included:

    • Henrico Police Department
    • Virginia State Police
    • Commonwealth of Virginia’s Rescue Program
    • FBI
    • Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)
    • Southampton County Sheriff’s Office
    • City of Franklin Police Department
    • Virginia Department of Corrections
    • Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office – Norfolk
    • Suffolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office
    • Hertford County Sheriff’s Office (North Carolina)
    • DNA Labs International (Florida)

Their cooperation helped locate Harvell’s remains, identify suspects, and assemble a prosecutable case.

    A Family Waiting for Justice

Throughout the investigation, Harvell’s family worked closely with law enforcement, displaying patience and strength as they awaited answers no family should have to seek.

“We share in their sorrow for the loss of Gerard,” Suffolk Police said in their statement. “We would also like to thank Mr. Harvell’s family for their cooperation and their patience during this investigation. We look forward to assisting the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office as they carry this case forward for prosecution.”

As the community absorbs the painful news and the court process begins, the focus remains on securing justice for Gerard Anthony Harvell and supporting his family as they navigate the long road ahead.

In Loving Memory: Community Mourns Yvonne and Paul McGrath After Tragic Waddington Incident

The town of Waddington in St. Lawrence County is mourning after an unimaginable tragedy unfolded on Sunday—one that claimed the lives of 66-year-old Yvonne McGrath and her husband, 70-year-old Paul McGrath. What began as a routine emergency response to a vehicle crash quickly revealed a heartbreaking sequence of events that has left family, friends, and the entire community shaken.

Around 7:45 a.m. Sunday, New York State Police were called to a single-vehicle crash on Route 37 in Waddington. When troopers and paramedics arrived, they found Yvonne McGrath, the sole occupant of the vehicle, suffering from severe injuries—some consistent with the crash, and others clearly sustained earlier. She was rushed to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she tragically passed away.

As officers continued their investigation, they proceeded to the McGrath residence—a home shared by Yvonne and her husband Paul. There, they discovered Paul deceased. The unfolding investigation has since revealed the devastating truth: an altercation had taken place inside the couple’s home earlier that morning, ending in violence that took both of their lives. Investigators determined that Yvonne’s injuries were inflicted during a violent attack, and her death has been ruled a homicide. Paul’s cause of death, ruled a suicide, was attributed to asphyxia due to hanging.

While officials have shared the facts surrounding the case, the community is turning its focus to something deeper—to the people behind the headlines, to the lives lived, and to the legacy of two individuals whose story ended far too tragically.

    Remembering Yvonne McGrath

Yvonne, 66, was known as a warm, gentle, and deeply caring woman with a heart for her family and community. Friends and neighbors remember her as someone who brought kindness wherever she went—whether through simple conversations, thoughtful gestures, or her steady, comforting presence. She lived with sincerity and compassion, touching those around her through her steady reliability and humble nature. Her loss leaves a void that can never truly be filled.

    Remembering Paul McGrath

Paul, 70, had been a longtime resident of the area and was known by many throughout the community. Those who knew him recall moments of generosity, friendship, and kindness throughout the years. The circumstances of this tragedy do not erase the parts of Paul that were meaningful and good, nor the relationships built over a lifetime. His passing is yet another layer of heartbreak for family and friends who now mourn not only loss, but the complex grief that comes with such a devastating event.

    A Community in Grief

The people of Waddington and Lisbon now find themselves grappling with a sorrow that is heavy, complicated, and deeply painful. Two lives ended in a single day—two stories intertwined by love, struggle, and a tragedy that no one could have foreseen. As neighbors extend their prayers and condolences, many are searching for comfort, understanding, and strength in the face of such overwhelming loss.

It is in moments like these that communities lean on one another, offering support to family members, friends, and neighbors who must now navigate the difficult path of healing. Yvonne and Paul’s story serves as a reminder of the fragility of life, the unseen battles people may face, and the importance of compassion—both for others and for ourselves.

    In Loving Memory

Today, we honor Yvonne McGrath for the love, warmth, and light she brought into the world, and we remember Paul McGrath as a man whose life, too, holds meaning beyond the tragedy that ended it. May their souls find peace, and may the community find comfort in unity as they grieve this unimaginable loss.

The community of Rockingham County is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 47-year-old Kenneth Dalton, a beloved friend, neighbor, and family member whose life was tragically cut short in an overnight incident at his home in Stoneville. In the early morning hours of Saturday, deputies with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Brushy Mountain Road, where Kenneth was found in his backyard with severe burn injuries. Despite the swift response of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Kenneth appears to have accidentally fallen into an active fire pit, suffering fatal injuries. While no foul play is suspected, the case remains under investigation as authorities await autopsy results to determine the precise cause of death. For those who knew and loved him, the official details tell only a fraction of the story. What truly matters now is remembering the man behind the tragic circumstances—the life he lived, the love he gave, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Kenneth was the kind of person who made an impression without trying. A man of quiet strength, gentle humor, and genuine kindness, he carried himself with an easy warmth that put others at ease. Friends recall his readiness to lend a hand—whether fixing something around the house, offering advice, or simply being there when someone needed support. His neighbors knew him as dependable and friendly, someone who took pride in his home and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life outdoors.

Family members speak of Kenneth as a man who loved deeply and quietly, showing his care through thoughtful actions rather than words. He valued time spent with loved ones, backyard gatherings, and the peacefulness of nature. Those closest to him say he found comfort in the rhythm of everyday life—projects around the house, evenings by the fire pit, and moments shared with people he cared about.

His sudden passing has left an immense void—one made all the more painful by the unexpected and tragic nature of the accident. Yet amid the grief, those who loved Kenneth are choosing to hold onto the memories that capture his spirit: his laughter, his patience, his generosity, and the countless ways he made life a little brighter for those around him.
