Lan Shelton, 30, Found Dead in Lake Afton; Sedgwick County Authorities Investigating

WICHITA, Kan. — Authorities are investigating after the body of 30-year-old Lan Shelton was discovered Saturday afternoon in Lake Afton, prompting a response from multiple emergency agencies and raising questions about the circumstances surrounding the death.

Sedgwick County dispatch confirmed that at approximately 2:09 p.m. on Saturday, first responders were called to Lake Afton, located southwest of Wichita, after a body was reported in the water. Upon arrival, officials confirmed the presence of a deceased individual.

The victim has been identified as Lan Shelton, 30, though authorities have not yet released additional personal details. Officials also have not disclosed whether the death is being treated as suspicious.

Emergency crews secured the area while the body was recovered from the lake. Investigators from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and other responding agencies remained on scene for several hours as they worked to gather information and document the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
