In Loving Memory of Tarrie Noel

ROCKFORD, Ill. — The Rockford community is grieving the tragic loss of Tarrie Noel, 35, whose life was abruptly and violently taken in the early hours of Sunday, leaving family, friends, and neighbors in profound sorrow.

Tarrie was more than a name in a police report — he was a cherished member of the Rockford community, known for his warmth, presence, and the bonds he shared with loved ones. He carried himself with dignity and a quiet strength, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His loss has left an irreplaceable void for those who counted on his friendship, his guidance, and his laughter.

The tragic events unfolded just before 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, when Tarrie was shot in the 300 block of Buckbee Street. Emergency responders from the Rockford Police Department and Rockford Fire Department arrived quickly, finding Tarrie critically injured. Life-saving efforts were immediately administered, and he was transported to a local hospital via ambulance. Despite the tireless work of medical personnel, Tarrie succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased around 2 a.m. An autopsy later confirmed that his death resulted from a gunshot wound.

Authorities, including the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office and Rockford Police Department, have been investigating the circumstances surrounding Tarrie’s death. In connection with the shooting, 25-year-old Lavaughntray Vaughn has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. Vaughn appeared in court on Monday.
