CHICAGO — The Logan Square community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Shanna Monique, 31, whose life was tragically taken in a devastating crash early Monday morning.
Just after 1:30 a.m., a black sedan traveling westbound in the 3800 block of West Diversey Avenue was involved in a violent collision that would forever change the lives of those who loved Shanna. According to police, the vehicle lost control, struck a parked car, crossed the roadway, and collided with the rear of a semi-truck traveling in the opposite direction.
Shanna, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was ejected from the car and was pronounced deceased at the scene. In a single moment, a bright and beautiful life was lost.
To her family and friends, Shanna was more than a name on a report. She was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a soul full of light. She was known for her smile, her laughter, and the love she showed to those around her. She had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and cared for — a gift that will forever be remembered.
Her passing has left an unbearable void in the hearts of those who loved her and a deep sadness throughout the community. Though her time here was far too short, the memories she created, the love she shared, and the lives she touched will live on.
The driver of the sedan survived and was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured and declined medical treatment. Authorities stated that citations are pending as the investigation continues.
Today, those who loved Shanna grieve not only the way she left this world, but the moments, milestones, and memories that will never come to be.
Rest in peace, Shanna Monique.
You were loved more than words can say, and you will never be forgotten.
