Kentucky State Police officials in Madisonville are investigating the deadly incident, which occurred Tuesday evening along U.S. 41 in Hopkins County. According to a press release from KSP, the crash was reported at approximately 5:50 p.m., when Hopkins County Dispatch contacted KSP Post 2 Dispatch requesting assistance at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Old Nortonville–White Plains Road in Nortonville, Kentucky.
Preliminary findings indicate that a vehicle operated by a Hopkins County man struck a pedestrian who was reported to be standing in the roadway at the time of the collision. The impact proved fatal. The pedestrian was later identified as Joseph Davis, a 70-year-old man whose life came to an abrupt and heartbreaking end.
