Liverpool, Texas —With hearts weighed down by grief, the Liverpool community and all who knew him come together to remember and honor the life of Javier Martinez, a beloved son, family member, and friend whose life was tragically taken on Sunday evening, January 4, 2026. At just 27 years old, Javier’s life was cut short in a sudden act of violence that has left an enduring ache in the hearts of those who loved him.

At approximately 6:29 p.m., the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of Liverpool Spur. When deputies arrived, they found a man lying on the ground with multiple suspected gunshot wounds and no signs of life. Emergency Medical Services were allowed to enter the scene and worked tirelessly in an attempt to save him. Despite their efforts, Javier was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Javier Martinez, a lifelong resident of Liverpool, Texas, was later transported to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. While authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, those who loved Javier are left to mourn a life taken far too soon and a future forever changed.

Javier was more than the tragic details of that evening. He was a young man with dreams, connections, and a place in the lives of many. To his family, he was irreplaceable. To his friends, he was a source of loyalty and companionship. His presence, his voice, and his spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Investigators and forensic personnel with the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office responded swiftly and initiated an active death investigation. A detained individual, Manuel De Jesus Munoz Chavez, 28, of Alvin, Texas, was taken into custody and is expected to be charged with one count of murder. The investigation remains active and ongoing, and authorities have indicated that no further details will be released at this time.

As the legal process continues, the community pauses to grieve and reflect. This loss is a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the devastating impact of violence. In moments like these, remembrance becomes an act of love—holding close the memories, the laughter, and the moments that defined Javier’s life.

Today and always, we remember Javier Martinez not by the tragedy that ended his life, but by the life he lived and the love he shared. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, in the stories told by friends, and in the collective remembrance of a community that will not forget him.

May Javier rest in eternal peace.

May his family find strength, comfort, and healing in the days ahead, and may his light continue to shine through the love he leaves behind.
