In Loving Memory of Cameron Gerard

JEFFERSON COUNTY, TX — The Jefferson County community is mourning the tragic loss of Cameron Gerard, 34, a dedicated correctional officer whose life was abruptly and tragically cut short in a fatal crash on Interstate 10.

Cameron, a native of Beaumont, was more than a public servant; he was a devoted professional, a loving family member, and a friend whose presence brought stability, warmth, and support to those around him. His role at the Jefferson County Jail was more than a job — it was a testament to his commitment to protecting and serving others with integrity and dedication.

The devastating incident occurred early Monday morning, around 5:20 a.m., on eastbound Interstate 10 near Boyt Road. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Cameron was driving a 2015 Dodge Charger when he failed to negotiate a lane change. The vehicle struck a water-filled barrier before continuing into a concrete barrier, resulting in catastrophic damage.

The crash also claimed the life of Alexandria Jones, 33, of Lumberton, who was another victim in the collision. Tragically, both Cameron and Alexandria were pronounced dead at the scene, leaving families, friends, and the community in profound grief. Emergency responders and troopers were on site, and the eastbound lanes of I-10 were temporarily closed for several hours as investigators worked to process the scene.

Cameron Gerard is remembered not only for his service as a correctional officer but also for the kindness, reliability, and dedication he brought to every aspect of his life. Those who knew him recall his unwavering professionalism, his supportive nature, and the compassion he showed to colleagues, friends, and loved ones alike.

Though his life was tragically cut short, Cameron’s memory lives on through the countless lives he touched, the example of service he set, and the love he shared with those around him.

Rest in peace, Cameron Gerard.

Your service, your dedication, and your life will never be forgotten.
