In Loving Memory of Aurelio Zhunio-Orbez

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — With profound sadness, the community pauses to remember Aurelio Zhunio-Orbez, 66, a beloved father, relative, and friend whose life was tragically taken and whose passing has left a deep wound in the hearts of all who knew him.

Aurelio was more than a name connected to a tragic investigation. He was a hardworking man, a familiar face behind the wheel of a taxi, and someone who spent his days serving others with quiet dignity. Known for his kindness, friendly nature, and willingness to help those in need, he lived his life with humility and respect, always putting his family and responsibilities first.

On December 7, 2025, authorities recovered Aurelio from the waters of the Croton Falls Reservoir after a concerned fisherman made a heartbreaking discovery. Days earlier, on December 1, 2025, his family had reported him missing to the Danbury Police Department, worried after losing contact with someone who had always been dependable and present.

A post-mortem examination later confirmed what his loved ones feared most — his death was not an accident, but a homicide. While investigators work tirelessly to uncover the truth, what remains undeniable is the life that was stolen and the love that remains.

Aurelio’s vehicle — a black Toyota Sienna taxi — was also taken. To his family, it was more than a car; it was a symbol of the hard work he gave every day to provide for himself and those he loved.

As the community watches and waits for answers, friends and family are left holding memories — of his smile, his voice, his daily routines, and the simple moments that now feel priceless.

Though justice is still being pursued, Aurelio’s life will not be defined by how it ended, but by how he lived — with integrity, kindness, and quiet strength.

Rest in eternal peace, Aurelio Zhunio-Orbez.

You are loved, you are missed, and you will never be forgotten.
