In Loving Memory: Community Mourns Frederick Kiprono and Tatum Ashley After Deadly Clyde Fant Parkway Shooting

The hearts of Shreveport and all of Caddo Parish are heavy today as we mourn the devastating loss of 43-year-old Frederick Kiprono and 18-year-old Tatum Ashley, two lives tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence along Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office has officially released their names, marking a sorrowful moment for two grieving families and a shaken community.

Authorities say the shooting occurred just before 6:45 p.m. as Mr. Kiprono, working as an Uber driver, traveled north on the Parkway just past East Preston Avenue. Inside his vehicle were two passengers, one of whom was young Tatum Ashley. In the midst of what should have been an ordinary trip, gunfire erupted, striking both Kiprono and Ashley. Despite immediate response from first responders, both men were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Remembering Frederick Kiprono

At 43, Frederick Kiprono was a hardworking, kind, and dedicated man who spent his evenings earning a living behind the wheel—something he did with humility and pride. Known for his gentle nature, warm smile, and unwavering work ethic, Frederick touched countless lives. To his friends and loved ones, he was steady, compassionate, and endlessly giving. His loss creates a void that cannot be filled, and his family is left grieving a life taken far too soon.

Frederick was presumptively identified through government documentation, and his loved ones are now facing the unimaginable pain of saying goodbye.

Remembering Tatum Ashley

Just 18 years old, Tatum Ashley was at the very beginning of his adult life—full of hope, ambition, and dreams that now will never be realized. Those who knew him remember a vibrant young man with a bright smile, strong spirit, and a heart full of potential. His family, friends, and community are grieving not only the loss of who he was, but the future he deserved.

Tatum was positively identified by the coroner’s office, and his death has sent ripples of grief through all who knew him.

The deaths of Frederick Kiprono and Tatum Ashley mark the 34th and 35th confirmed homicides in Shreveport in 2025, with six more occurring in Caddo Parish outside city limits, bringing the parish total to 41 lives lost. Each number represents a human being, a family forever changed, and a community grappling with pain, fear, and frustration.

Investigation Ongoing

Autopsies have been ordered for both victims as investigators continue to piece together the chain of events that led to this heartbreaking tragedy. The shooter—or shooters—remain the focus of an active investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
