A tragic incident in Warner Robins has led to the arrest of Brandon Diaz, 31, in connection with the death of Krystal Gilbert, 34, following a welfare check conducted by police early Wednesday morning, according to Houston County Coroner James Williams, Houston County Sheriff Matt Moulton, and the Warner Robins Police Department (WRPD). Investigators say the case is being handled as a homicide, with Det. Conner Milam leading efforts to gather additional information as the investigation continues.
Authorities report that officers were dispatched just after 7 a.m. Wednesday to a residence in the 100 block of Kay Drive after receiving a request for a welfare check. Upon entering the home, officers discovered a woman later identified as Krystal Gilbert lying on the floor. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. During a continued search of the residence, police located a man, later identified as Brandon Diaz, unresponsive in a bedroom. He was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Warner Robins Police secured the scene as investigators began processing evidence and conducting interviews. Coroner James Williams confirmed that the death was being treated as suspicious, prompting a full homicide investigation. Sheriff Matt Moulton later confirmed that law enforcement agencies were working collaboratively to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
In an updated release, WRPD announced that Brandon Diaz has been arrested and formally charged with felony murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of Krystal Gilbert.
