CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have confirmed the identity of a man who tragically died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Clarendon County early Thursday morning, Thanksgiving Day. The victim, 34-year-old Jorge Alberto Maldonado of Richmond, Virginia, was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Crash Details
According to Master Trooper William Bennett of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident occurred just after 12:15 a.m. near the 119-mile marker on I-95 southbound. Bennett said the vehicle involved, a 2006 Toyota 4Runner, veered off the left side of the roadway and overturned.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found Maldonado unresponsive. Despite immediate efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Victim Identification
Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell confirmed that the victim was Jorge Alberto Maldonado. Authorities have not released additional personal details at this time, pending notification of family members.
