ADAMS COUNTY, Ill. — The Adams County community is grieving the tragic loss of 22-year-old Jaden D. Gutting of Mendon, who was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday morning. Gutting’s untimely death has left family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken as they remember a young life full of promise and potential.
According to the Adams County Coroner, Scott Graham, Gutting was the sole occupant of an SUV that ran off Highway 24 near Camp Point. Gutting was pronounced dead at the scene.
Circumstances of the Crash
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were dispatched at 6:31 a.m. after the SUV was discovered off the roadway between E 2000th and E 2100th Streets. Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Highway 24 when it crossed into the ditch on the north side of the road, continued across train tracks, and eventually came to rest in a nearby field.
Emergency personnel responded promptly, but tragically, Gutting did not survive the crash. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact factors that led to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
