In Loving Memory of Kala Karlene Henry

The community of Chaska is mourning the heartbreaking and sudden loss of 46-year-old Kala Karlene Henry, a beloved mother, daughter, friend, and neighbor whose life was tragically cut short late Sunday night in a devastating crash on Highway 169 in Shakopee.

Kala was driving southbound near Marystown Road around 11:39 p.m. when her Chevrolet Cobalt was struck from behind by another vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The severe impact forced her car off the roadway and into a ditch, where it rolled before coming to rest. Despite the quick response from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Shakopee police and fire, and Allina EMS, Kala succumbed to her injuries after being transported to St. Francis Regional Medical Center.

Those who knew Kala remember her as a warm, kind-hearted woman with an infectious smile and a spirit that radiated love. She was the type of person who never hesitated to lend a helping hand, to listen without judgment, and to show up for the people she cared about. Her compassion, strength, and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Kala’s life was centered around the people she loved most. She was a devoted mother and a loyal friend, someone who found joy in the simplest moments—whether she was spending time with family, laughing with friends, or enjoying the peaceful routines of everyday life. Her presence brought comfort; her laughter brought warmth; her love brought light.

Her sudden passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Family members, neighbors, coworkers, and friends across the community are struggling to come to terms with the painful reality that Kala is no longer with them. The grief is profound, but so is the love she gave throughout her life.

While investigators continue working to understand the full circumstances surrounding the crash, the community’s focus remains on honoring Kala’s memory and supporting her loved ones through this unimaginable loss.

As we remember Kala, may we also honor the kindness she showed so freely, the compassion she offered effortlessly, and the love she gave wholeheartedly. Her legacy lives on in the people she touched, the memories she created, and the lives she helped shape during her time here.

Rest in peace, Kala Karlene Henry.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.
