BRISTOL, Tenn. — A quiet Bristol neighborhood was shaken just after midnight Sunday when a shooting on Lilly Street left two people dead, left Kevin Collin injured, and injured a third. Police say the violence was allegedly carried out by Elijah Khalil Campbell who has been identified as the suspect.
When officers arrived, they found three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Two victims, including Kevin Collin, were pronounced dead at the scene. The third victim was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that officials say are still being evaluated.
Police quickly identified Campbell as the suspected shooter. A short time later, he turned himself in to officers in Bristol, Virginia, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Campbell faces multiple serious charges, including:
- Two counts of first-degree murder
- One count of attempted first-degree murder
- Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues
Detectives continue to examine evidence, interview witnesses, and determine the events that led to the deadly encounter.
Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Bristol, Tennessee Police Department, noting that even small details may assist in the investigation.
A press conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. today, when officials are expected to share additional updates.
