HARRIS COUNTY, Ga. — A deadly domestic violence incident involving Eric Grigsby, his wife Kelly Grigsby, and her two teenage sons, ages 16 and 14, unfolded early Monday evening on November 17, 2025, leaving both boys dead and Eric Grigsby fatally shot by deputies after he allegedly threatened to kill the children and responding law enforcement officers. The tragic events occurred at 103 Christophers Way in Midland, Georgia, after Mrs. Grigsby fled the home with her five-year-old child and called 911 for help.
Deputies Respond to Disturbing 911 Update
At approximately 6:50 p.m., Harris County Deputies were dispatched following the call from Kelly Grigsby, who told 911 operators that her husband, Eric Grigsby, was threatening the lives of the children still inside the residence. She also reported that Grigsby made explicit threats toward responding deputies. Fearing for her family’s safety, she escaped to a neighbor’s home with her youngest child.
As deputies approached the residence, 911 continued to update them on the severity of the situation.
Confrontation With an Armed Suspect
When deputies arrived, they noticed the interior lights of the residence abruptly shut off. Deputies positioned their vehicles strategically, using takedown lights to illuminate the front door and increase visibility.
Moments later, Eric Grigsby emerged from around the driveway, holding items in both hands. Deputies, aware of the threats reported by Kelly Grigsby, immediately ordered him to stop and drop the objects. As he continued advancing, deputies identified the items as two handguns.
Despite multiple commands to disarm, Grigsby raised both weapons and pointed them at deputies. Officers fired, striking him. Grigsby returned fire, prompting deputies to engage again until he fell to the ground and stopped moving.
Two Teen Boys Discovered Shot Inside
After securing the scene, deputies searched the residence and made a devastating discovery:
- The 16-year-old stepson was found deceased.
- The 14-year-old stepson was located with life-threatening injuries. Harris County EMS attempted life-saving measures, but he was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities believe the boys were shot before deputies arrived.
GBI Assumes Investigation
Because the situation involved an officer-involved shooting, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested to conduct the follow-up investigation.
Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and emphasized that deputies responded according to their training when confronted with an armed assailant threatening deadly force:
“This was a tragic family violence shooting resulting in the death of three individuals. Two teenage young men were shot and killed by their stepfather, and the stepfather, Eric Grigsby, was shot and killed by deputies. The deputies responded to the scene and did exactly as they were trained.” — Sheriff Mike Jolley
Community in Mourning
The violent loss of two young brothers and the fatal confrontation with their stepfather has deeply shaken the community. Harris County officials and residents alike are grieving the enormity of the tragedy, recognizing the profound trauma endured by Kelly Grigsby and her surviving child.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available.
