CUMBERLAND, Ky. — Kentucky State Police Post 10 is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning on Coldiron Branch Road, where Brian Johnson was found with a fatal gunshot wound and 45-year-old James Sizemore of Cumberland was later identified and arrested as the suspect. Responding agencies included the Cumberland Police Department, Evarts Police Department, Harlan County Sheriff’s Department, and AMR Ambulance Service.
Troopers were dispatched around 4:10 a.m. after a 911 call reported a shooting. When they arrived, they found Brian Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Suspect Arrested
During the investigation, troopers determined that James Sizemore was connected to the shooting. He was taken into custody and transported to the Harlan County Detention Center, where he has been charged with Murder.
