One Dead, Six Injured in Suspected Drunk Driving Crash in McAllen; Jacob Rodriguez Killed and Driver Gabriela Nunez Garcia Arrested

McALLEN, Texas — A suspected drunk driving crash in McAllen early Saturday morning left 25-year-old Jacob Rodriguez of Edinburg dead and injured six others, and resulted in the arrest of 18-year-old driver Gabriela Nunez Garcia of McAllen, according to police.

The collision occurred at approximately 2:08 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Bicentennial Boulevard, prompting a rapid response from McAllen police and emergency medical personnel.

Upon arrival, officers found a severely damaged vehicle occupied by seven young adults, ranging in age from 18 to 25. All seven sustained multiple injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Tragically, Jacob Rodriguez suffered fatal injuries and did not survive, authorities confirmed.

Meanwhile, the driver, Gabriela Nunez Garcia, was taken into custody at the hospital after officers determined there was evidence of alcohol involvement. Garcia now faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter, along with additional felony charges stemming from the crash and resulting injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to evaluate evidence, reconstruct the collision, and interview witnesses.
